Default New Computer -- Transfer of contacts etc

Yes, you can transfer your old data manually. The following steps will
work for moving from Outlook 2000 or OL2002 to either Outlook 2002 or
Outlook 2003:

1. Download the Personal Folders Backup Tool from
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...F-5A6322F4FD01
2. Read the instructions about how to use the backup tool here
http://office.microsoft.com/assistan...HA010875321033

3. Backup your data and save the backup file to a something that can be
moved to your new machine.

4. Create a folder on your new machine for your data and restore the backup
files to that location. NOTE: If you are made a CD for backup, you must
copy the file to the new hard disk then clear the read-only attribute (in
the file properties). Your backup files will be named something like "file
backup.pst". Rename the files on the hard disk to leave out the "backup"
part.

5. Open Outlook and Click "File Open Outlook Data File. Navigate to the
folder you created in step 4 and select your old PST. You might want to
change the name of the folder set from "Personal Folders" to "Main Folders"
or something similar to more easily keep track of the files.

6. Once you have opened your old file, click Tools Email Accounts View or
Change existing email accounts. When the list of accounts appears on the
screen, go to the bottom of the screen and change the "Deliver ne e-mail to
the following location:" option to use your old folder set. Then click
Finish.

Outlook will now be using your old file with all your old data. If you have
created some new items, you can open the folders and move (Edit Move to
folder or drag) the items. When you have cleared out the unwanted folders,
right-click on the top of the folder tree and "Close" the folder set.

I did not have trouble installing software on new
computer, but am looking to find out if there is a way to
transfer all my contacts and appts without retyping
everything. I have two home computers that are not
networked. Thanks.
