For Word 2007, click on the border of the text box so that just it is
selected (without it being enclosed in a dotted outline) and then press
delete (or in Word 2003, the border will be surrounded by a band of dots
rather than a hashed band)

If the textbox toolbar does not appear, select Toolbars from the View
menu and then check the Text Box item.

Suzanne, i'm having trouble deleting text boxs in Word 2003. Seems to
me they ought to vanish when i place cursor in text box & press delete,
but it doesn't seem to happen. Also, the little text box toolbar
sometimes appear, sometimes doesn't. Any solutions for this...?

All the best!
