We have encountered a problem in which a database is continually bloating
under Access2007. This has nothing to do with the contents of the db or any
of the usual suspects, because I can duplicate the problem with a database
that has nothing in it at all! The database increases in size 4K every 5
seconds. A 100MB database increases in size about 256K every 5 seconds. Yet
not everyone experiences the problem!
We have encountered conflicting stories from Microsoft as to whether or not
this is a known problem. In any event, there has been no clue given as to
the cause or a possible workaround.
I don't recall reading any similar problems in the newsgroups. I
certainly haven't seen that problem myself.
You mention Norton AntiVirus. Are these ACCDBs? Is Norton set to
ignore ACCDBs/MDBs/ACCDEs/MDEs?
Is this on one PC or multiple PCs?
There is a brand new hotfix out which mentions a performance problem.
That might make a difference. See a recent posting in my blog in my
sig below.
